For every sports video games enthusiast Christmas is coming early this year. The new FIFA 18 is about to come out and every football fan in the world is racing to see this repackaged and re-polished crown jewel of the sports video games. We at GameBag, even though not a big football buffs, had to see what the fuss is about. And we were very surprised to see just how much questions and theories people on the internet had regarding this new entry to the series.
Now, as we mentioned before, we are not very big football fans but we do enjoy games in every way, form or shape. And that is no different when it comes to FIFA 18. Be it its polished style, cheering crowds or a big selection of teams and players to choose from – we felt like we wanted to try it out. And so we decided to gather our intel and go through some of the features we thought would be interesting to share with you.
Please, do note that the game is not out yet and some of these features might be different when the game finally comes out. So, let’s stop beating around the bush and get right into it.
Pleasure to Look at
The year of 2019 was the year of innovation. 4K Monitors and TVs flooded our markets. And with that came the need for the games to step out and show off how good their animations can get. And FIFA 18 aims to please. Returning this year with a Frostbite 3 game engine, on most consoles, FIFA 18 is rumored to look as realistic as a game can get. With addition of 3D crowds and grass, they completely overhauled lightning physics. It is said it will use physical- based rendering which will help game run very smoothly.
As the game will also be featured on Nintendo Switch some adjustments had to be made for the console. As it will not run on Frostbite, game developers made most out of Switch’s Nvidia Maxwell- based Tegra X1 chip. And it is rumored to run at 1080p on 60FPS (frames per second) when plugged into your TV.
Diversity is the Name of the Game
Something every gamer dreads is finding a game he would like to play is not being developed for his preferable console. And that is something FIFA 18 aims to eliminate. Not one person feeling the need for some football action will be left out. FIFA 18 is marketed for almost every gaming platform you can pick up today. From obvious PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions from Microsoft, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 from Sony to the newly added Nintendo Switch. It covers it all.
Not every gaming company out there can with pride say its product is successful on every gaming platform it runs. And that is why FIFA 18 is still the biggest sports game name in the gaming business.
The Dreadful Requirements
Now, if you are in a PC master race, you certainly know how important having the right equipment for the game is. And many games today aim too high and leave gamers with empty pockets as they try to match very high requirements the game sets. Luckily for all of us, that will not be the case with FIFA 18.
Although you will need a lot of space for the game itself (around 50 GB) everything else is quite reasonable. We will try to keep it simple and give you minimum and recommended requirements for this game.

Story Mode: Hunter Returns
With last years edition “FIFA 17” something new was brought to the table – story mode. It was a fun and successful addition to the game that helped gamers feel even more like a football star. And this year it is no different. Anlex Huter returns to us as main protagonist of the story mode titled “The Journey: Hunter Returns”. If one completed the story mode in FIFA17 they will get to pick up exactly where they left Alex last year. With all traits and honors, such as FA Cup win or Premier League title. And if you are a new player you will get to see a montage of key plot points and then decide which team to pick from current English Premier League.
Now, we want to give Alex his own article so we won’t cover everything here. So stay tuned to find out more about this animated football prodigy.
Bigger Than Ever!
Lastly, but not any less important are the players and their teams. Football is nothing without the players who leave their hearts on the grass. This years addition to the ever-expanding FIFA universe aims to bring even more teams and players in its line-up. And that is something to applaud. The trailer released for the game included some big names such as Antonie Griezmann, Dele Alli, Rio Fedinand and even the football superstar himself – Cristiano Ronaldo who even lent his expertise on the field to advance new motion capture and player animation technologies. FIFA 18 will, without the doubt, please every football enthusiast out there.
And that is about it. We covered everything we could find on a subject. Stay tuned for our FIFA 18 Free Coins article. And as always, thank you for reading.
